GLASS’s Virtual Summer Reading

Registration is now open for GLASS’s Virtual Summer Reading Program!

Register at https://glass.beanstack.org between June 1st & July 24. The theme is Tails and Tales.

Students who complete their reading and activities requirements will be entered for a drawing of prizes.

  • For students Grade K – 5: 1st Prize: Pizza party for Family
  • For Students Grades 6 -12: 1st Prize: A Mini iPad

This program is open to blind, visually impaired, physically and/or print disabled students who are registered with the Library for the Blind and Print Disabled program. If your child is not registered with GLASS please find an application for GLASS services at www.georgialibraries.org/glass.

Students may read braille, large print, or audio books. Having a book read to students counts too!!

Our goal is to keep students engaged and reading over the summer break to avoid the summer slide.

Georgia Aquarium Virtual Exhibit


Starting 9am 1 June thru 9am 4 June, 2021 everyone will have Free access to the Georgia Aquarium’s Virtual Guided Tour of the Ocean Explorer exhibit.

Kids and adults alike, take advantage of this one of a kind virtual experience.

Get Georgia Reading Now!

Thanks to Get Georgia Reading, kids across Georgia have access to FREE eBooks this summer through Renaissance myON Digital Library.

Here’s how you can get reading, right now!

To receive your county username and password via email, register at renaissance.com/getgeorgiareading. The registration form is 1/2 way down the page.

After you register, follow the instructions below.

Log in at myON.com/login/index.html and enter your log-in information

  • School Name: Get Georgia Reading (Type in the first few letters of Get Georgia and click on the Georgia Campaign for Grade-Level Reading)
  • Username: houstoncounty
  • Password: read

Click on the Sign In button, select a book, and start reading!
